New Style

This is something I wrote a couple of years ago and forgot to publish for some odd reason. I know that I need to check out this style again. I wish I knew what I did with my pic.

"Hey everyone,

Last night I was messing around with my hair. I took out an old twist out and separated parts to make my hair look fuller. I had planned on going out once my roommate got home, so I had to do something to my hair. This is when I got inspired by Naptual85's video on simple hairstyles for back to school. I didn't do exactly what she said but I just took parts that I liked and added to my style. My roommate loved it, but she got off work too late for us to go out. This is something that I would wear everyday because it's easy ant straight to the point. Twist out hair is so much more manageble than any other natural style. It protects your hair from being tangled and it's versitile. I love my hair."

My Hair

I really want purple hair. My friends and family think I'm crazy. Maybe I am. You kind of have to be to survive in this world. Anyways, I've been tired of twisting my hair. It's all I do. I twist my hair or I will put it in a bun.
I like my hair when its a wash-n-go but my hair tangles so easily. It tangles easy with it's in twists too.  If I have my hair twisted for a week it looks like I have dreads. I can't stand it.
I do like by hair stretched out. It looks beautiful when I blow it out. If I keep it twisted after blowing it out it keeps the stretch longer.
I would love to wear my stretched out hair down longer but it curls back up so easily.  I don't want my hair strait because it takes away my curls over time. I learned that from past experience. I'm not sure what to do but I will figure it out.
I so ready for a beautiful change. I want to light up when I see myself in the mirror. I rarely feel that way about my hair lately but I still get tons of complements. I'm grateful for those complements. My beautiful soft hair is so versatile. Any change I do will be a complement to my already beautiful hair.

Just Me For Now

I'm really on a budget right now since I started a new job. I can't afford to spend money on weaves right now. Through watching various videos on YouTube, I realized that I can be natural and professional.

Right now I'm rocking a 3 day old twist out. I didn't do anything to it yet, but moisturize it with Shea Moisture's deep treatment masque. It's about time to do something else to it. I think I might do a twisted up-do or something. I learned that I really just have to play around with my hair and it's texture. The longer I leave out my twist-out, the shorter it becomes because of my hair's natural volume and the weather.

I'll attach some links to my YouTube playlists on natural hair. I love YouTube's natural hair care community. Natural Hair Style Playlist

My New Best Friend

Lately, because of my active life style, I don't have time to do something to my natural hair. Also, at my job I am not allowed to have anything in my hair. We all know at work, the professional look is not natural hair. I can't stand braids, so I decided to get a 10 inch weave. It's short and it looks very natural. I was surprised how much I liked it. My real hair is longer than the weave, but most people thought it was my hair. I think I found a new love. This weave is so light weight and easy to maintain. Anyone, wondering about weaves should try it. I love to always change my look and this is a perfect and quick way to do it. I had a full sewn-in weave, if you were wondering. I will have a picture up soon.

Unbeweavable

Winter is the hardest time for my hair. I don't know how to braid, so I have to get extensions. I don't have time to do my hair every morning, so I have broke down and got a weave. I bought synthetic hair. I had my mom put my weave in first. She did an ok job, my friend ended up doing it over again. I love what she did to my hair. It's so nice to wake up in the morning and to oil and brush my hair and go. I do wish my natural hair though.

Hmmmm.....

Lately I have been wondering what to do with my hair. I have been wearing it pressed for the past few months but I can't afford to go to the shop this month. I want to twist it but it takes forever. I wanted to get my hair weaved but all my friends that do it are sick or working. I hate braids. So I guess the only thing to do is twist it or leave it in a 'fro.

You Better Recognize!

I am so proud of Essence magazine for finally making a issue about us Natural sisters. It is sad that it took Chris Rock's documentary Good Hair to get black celebrities talking about these issues. Our identity has been based on the standards of white people for so long that we don't know what being "us" is all about.
I want to make a point that there is nothing wrong with chemically treating your hair or putting in a weave. In fact it is necessary for us to do that during harsh weather conditions to protect our hair. I actually put on wigs to help take care of my hair during that time. I actually commend Essence on talking about this issue as well.
It is not about being all natural but it is about understanding your hair and making changes for the right reasons. Our hair is kinky which by definition is tightly coiled hair, so it's curly. Society once again makes us feel like we are inferior because our hair can't easily go through a comb. It's so ridiculous. Our hair is the most versatile because it holds many styles very well.
I keep my hair in twists, braids, Afros, Afro puffs, pony tails, strait, and so much more. I get so many complements and for some reason people can't keep their hands off my hair. It's annoying.
Overall, I'm glad that natural African American hair is getting recognized. We are beautiful too. For more info on the Essence November issue pick it up at your local store or go to essence.com.
